  Web Conference Services FAQ

How do I schedule a web conference using Verizon Instant Net Conference powered by Microsoft® Office Live Meeting?

Two ways: you can purchase a monthly conference plan or a single conference session.

With monthly plans, your meeting number and passcodes are good for the life of your account. All you need to do is notify your team when to join in and provide them with the necessary numbers, if they don’t already have them.

With single conference sessions, you sign up by purchasing a single audio conference session and adding Web conferencing to the session. Go to Buy a Single Conference. You’ll receive a meeting number and passcode to distribute to your team.

Both types of conference are charged directly to your credit card. Invoice billing is not available.

How do people join a conference?

Direct your team members to the site you're on now: http://conferencing.verizonbusiness.com

From there, direct them to choose Join a Web Conference from the main navigation. The page provides fields for the meeting number and participant passcode you provide them. That’s all there is to it. The process is the same for the Leaders, except that you will have provided them with a Leader passcode which gives them access to additional functions.

You can also send them an invitation from this site. Just go to Manage My Account.

What equipment do I need to participate?

Web conferencing uses your computer and your existing web browser. The first time you join a web conference, your web browser will download and install the necessary software automatically. The process takes only a few minutes. You can take care of this step in advance by selecting System Check from either the web conferencing main product page or the Conferencing Help main page.

System Requirements:
  • Netscape Navigator 7.0 or later
  • Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.0 or later or Safari 1.0 or later
  • 166 Mhz Pentium-based PC with Windows 95, 98, NT, XP or 2000
  • Sun JVM 1.4 or Microsoft JVM (preinstalled with supported browsers)
  • 64 MB RAM
  • 56k or faster connection
  • 800x600 pixel monitor resolution or greater (1024x768 pixels recommended)
  • PowerPoint 97 (PowerPoint 2000 recommended)

How long does it take to get started?

It’s fast and easy. Once you sign up on line for either a monthly plan or a single conference session, you’ll receive e-mail confirmation in minutes, including your meeting number and passcodes. You can start your conference immediately.

Can I control how much interaction/collaboration given to each participant?

Yes. You can designate different levels of participation by creating separate leader and participant passcodes.

Anyone who logs into a meeting using a participant passcode can only view screens shown to them in the conference unless you actively share control with them during the conference. You control their interaction.

You can give select participants a leader passcode in advance. Anyone who logs into a web conference using a leader passcode has access to most all of the functions available to you: they can accept control of what screens the team sees and lead the presentation using the various tools available.

For a full explanation of conference tools and functions, refer to the Web Conferencing Mini Guide or Web Conferencing Full User's Guide.

How many people can participate?

You can have up to 100 people participate in a web conference. If additional parties try to join, they’ll see an on-screen explanation that the conference is full.
